Oscar Ibáñez

Oscar Ibáñez is a fascinating bagpiper and flute player that makes a musical fusion without limits., whose origin is somewhere halfway between research and creation and that has resulted in a new and unique sound. He started his career playing in different bands of traditional music with which he toured all around Europe. He taught in more than ten countries in Latin America, as well as in the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Spain and he has participated in the most prestigious bagpipe competitions, in which he has won more than 40 awards. Alongside an extensive academic musical education, he also published numerous works, for 8 years he participated in the creation of the Documentary and Bibliographic Heritage Sound Archive of the Council Office of Pontevedra and he produced different shows in Galicia and Cantabria. He took his music all around the Iberian peninsula, Italy and Brittany with his live performance band, OSCAR IBÁÑEZ & TRIBO, whose members are Fernando Fraga (accordion), Harry Price (violin), Carlos Calviño (guitars), Paco Dicenta (bass), and Andrés Vilán (percussion and drums). Now he is presenting his first solo album with the title "Alén do mar", a sound journey full of originality, imagination and creativity, that goes across the Atlantic through a superb selection of Galician and Latin American melodies enriched by elements of Celtic music, and inspired by the poem "O fillo de Celt", by the poet from Cambados, Ramón Cabanillas.
