Efraím Díaz (Lugo, 1980) began his studies of Galician bagpipe, flute and percussion with his father Cándido Díaz under the group Zuncurrundullo de Castroverde.A Percussion Specialty grad, he studied at the Conservatory of Music of A Coruña, with Professor Pilar García, graduating with honours and obtaining top marks in his End of Career concert. He is also a Professional Graduate in the Specialty of Bagpipes, by the Professional Music Conservatory of Viveiro, with Professor David Bellas.He has received lessons from percussionists such as Eric Sammut, Markus Leosson, Philippe Spiesser, Igor Lesnik, Ludwig Albert, Chin Cheng Lin, N.J. Zivkovick, Beverley Johnston or Jean Geoffroy, among others.He has worked as a teacher in various Music Schools located in Sada, Sarria, Guitiriz and the Professional Conservatories of Villalba, Ferrol, Melide, Monforte and A Coruña. He currently works as a teacher at the Municipal School of Music of Lugo.During 2008 he received a scholarship from the Caixa Galicia Foundation "Grant for first work". The result of this scholarship is his first solo cd as solo percussionist "Viaje por Kallaikía".Currently, Díaz is a member of the Coventina group of the Municipal Music Band and is working on the recovery of Pito Pastoril Gallego in the Pitanfona project (Dúo Pito Pastoril-Zanfona) and as a soloist.
