Galician music successfully rounds off its first appearance at the Buenos Aires International Music Festival (BAFIM)

[23/11/09] Galicia’s participation in the Buenos Aires International Music Festival (BAFIM) concluded yesterday with very positive initial results, both in terms of the enthusiastic reception of the programmed concerts, and the new contacts made by Galician companies for forthcoming commercial actions in Latin America. Carlos Núñez, Xoel López and Vetusta Morla, Uxía and Alô Irmao (Fran Pérez "Narf" and Manecas Costa) attracted an audience of nearly 4,000 people at the four concerts held last week in different theatres and music venues in Buenos Aires, as part of a special programme that was publicised throughout the whole city under the trademark of Galician Tunes. [13/11/09] Galicia’s music industry will be represented in force at the fair by a delegation comprised of five companies and two professional associations from the sector, together with a programme of concerts by some of the region’s best known performers: Carlos Núñez, Xoel López, Vetusta Morla, Aló Irmao and Uxía. Buenos Aires, a city with one of the world’s largest Galician communities, will be the stage for the event between the 19th and 22nd of November, the Buenos Aires International Music Fair (BAFIM). This is the latest project presented by the Regional Minister of Culture and Tourism, Roberto Varela, with the support of the Galician Cultural Industries Agency (AGADIC), and is included as part of a series of strategies for promoting the Galician music sector in Latin America. Galician music takes to the Latin American stage at BAFIM

Galician music takes to the Latin American stage at BAFIM

Galician music is taking a further step towards breaking into the Latin American market with its debut at the Buenos Aires International Music Fair (BAFIM). Five companies (EsmerArte Servicios Artísticos, Keltia Producións, Nordesía, Ouvirmos and Lonxa Cultural) will be present at the event, to be held between the 19th and 22nd of November, together with the associations AGEM (the Galician Association of Music Companies) and Agaphono (the Galician Record Producers’ Association). The Galician delegation, which is visiting the event with the support of the Regional Ministry of Culture and Tourism through the AGADIC (the Galician Cultural Industries Agency), will have its own stand at this important international music fair. With the aim of promoting Galician music, accredited professionals at the BAFIM will be given a CD containing a selection of tracks performed by various artists. Womex 2009, Galician music in Copenhagen

On 28 October, the Danish capital will be taking over from Seville as the venue for Womex, the world’s most important roots music event. For the third year running, our music will be featured at this event through the participation of the leading companies operating in this sector. In addition, the various initiatives and actions aimed at selling Galician music abroad programmed for Copenhagen by the Galician delegation include the distribution of a CD offering a selection of tracks by our finest groups and soloists, plus a guide to the region’s major festivals and music seasons.
