Margarida Mariño

Born in Vigo and graduated at the Liceo Conservatory in Barcelona, Margarida Mariño’s exploration of the limits of cello’s sound and aesthetic has led her to experiment with genres where her instrument is not as common, such as jazz or free-improvisation and experimental music. Furthermore she has been part of several international orchestras such as the Réssonnance Orchestra in Switzerland or La Via dei Concerti in Italy.

Her solo project presents an original repertoire for cello and voice inspired by topics such as ecology, climate change or human migrations. Applying effects and loops she manages to create unique textures and elaborate orchestrations that give rise to a very personal style in which such seemingly divergent genres such as postrock, trip-hop or classical music vibrate as one voice.
