Galkan

Galkan is a Galician band that builds its own musical project rooted in traditional heritage, drawing on rhythms such as the muiñeira and the jota and bringing them into new sonic landscapes. Their music ranges from Galician folk fusion to rhythms from other latitudes, such as rumba, also incorporating punk influences, with a sound that moves between acoustic and electric elements.

The project was born in 2018 following a journey through Latin America, which deeply shaped the band’s sonic and conceptual identity. Within this framework, lyrics play a central role, addressing themes such as feminism, child protection, Galician identity, the connection with Latin America, and the personal experiences of the songwriter.

The band is formed by Lina Lóbui (vocals), Cristian Rodríguez (bass, tambourine and vocals), Abraham Herrero (wind instruments and vocals), Manu Castro (guitar) Lucía Pretone (violin) and Pablo Barrio (percussion).

In March of 2024, they released their debut EP, “Galkan”, consisting of five tracks, with the collaboration of Galician jazz percussionist and composer Eloi Pascual in recording, mixing and mastering.

In August of 2026 the band released their first full-length album, “Pelerinaxes”. This new work introduces new influences such as Florencio, the blind minstrel of Vilares, and the poetic strength of Paco Souto. At the same time, the band is steadily strengthening its presence on the Galician live music circuit, with an increasing number of performances in venues and cultural programs across the region
