Virandeira Folk

Virandeira Folk continue their career on the Galician music scene with the recording of a new album, “Metamorfose”, a lively, fresh, modern and unique proposal. This band from Vigo released their first disc, “Sons do Atlántico” in 2012, an album which was presented in Culturgal that year, and which was well received by the public in concert on stages like the Afundación Auditorium in Vigo.

With “Metamorfose” the band's show is evolving into something more genuine and vital, without leaving behind the expressivity and sensitivity of the the music with which the group made its name. Virandeira Folk invite their audience to feel for an hour and a half the intimacy of the Atlantic, the force of Celtic dances, the exoticness of their oriental influences... to sum up; the possibility to enjoy in person a very special journey which is not easily forgotten.

Virandeira is a folk fusion band who work on the mixture of genres, styles and sonority. They have a musical vision which, far from contemporizing, looks for the eclectic, a philosophy which identifies the group and which is a result of the different influences of its members:

Chema Alonso (Galician bagpipes), David Oitabén (flutes and whistles), André Taboada (violin), Roberto González (guitars), David Casal (bass) y Loreto de Araujo (drums).

Virandeira Folk made its dissolution public on 8 October 2020.
