Festival Internacional do Mundo Celta de Ortigueira

Exciting Celtic music, visitors from all over Europe, an atmosphere of tolerance and freedom. The Ortigueira Festival has become in the last decade a must for festival-goers in summer, not only in
roots music but also in general.

Thousands of young people come to Ortegal to enjoy the four days of music and fun, a great opportunity to come into contact with a musical style away from the usual commercial scene and to live surrounded by nature, close to the protected location which is the estuary of Ortigueira, an atmosphere of freedom which is difficult to find.

The artistic proposal of the festival is based on twenty free concerts of the most renowned bands of the international Celtic music, the presence of the most important artists of the Galician Folk and the most promising emerging groups, as well as band parades of the “Celtic nations” (Scotland, Ireland, Great Britain, Asturias, Galicia...).

At the same time, a wide selection of parallel activities, which range from the traditional bazaar of handicraft to photographic exhibitions, dance workshops, street performers… Although the historic and multitudinous festival transcends the artistic and musical scene.

Emerging in full transition directed by Ortigueira's Bagpipe School The Folk festival, organised by the Ortigueira Council for years, is an authentic multicultural meeting. It was declared as International Tourist Interest in 2005 thanks to its distinct personality and popularity.
