Valentín Caamaño

Valentín Caamaño Tubío is a guitarist, vocalist and composer.

Born in Santiago de Compostela, he began to play the guitar during his childhood in Oviedo, but his musical career begins when moving back to Santiago, where he took part in different groups such as Clan Moriarty, Space Drapes, Southbound or Francis Kaners. He finished Jazz and Modern Music studies at Estudio Escola de Música in Santiago de Compostela, besides participating in several editions of the Seminario Permanente de Jazz de Pontevedra, directed by Paco Charlín, and in master classes by renowned musicians such as Logan Richardson, Demian Cabaud, Juanma Barroso or André Fernandes.

He currently leads several projects, the main ones being Valentín Caamaño Trío, with Alfonso Calvo (double bass) and LAR Legido (drums), a proposal portrayed in “The Joy” (FreeCode Jazz Records, 2014); Green With Envy Trio, with Juyma Estévez (double bass) and Andrés Rivas (drums), with whom he has released “Green With Envy” (FreeCode Jazz Records, 2017); and Valentín Caamano Quartet, with Xosé Miguélez (tenor saxophone), Alfonso Calvo (double bass) and LAR Legido (drums), portrayed in their latest album, “The Blind Wrester” (Tiny Moon Records, 2017).

He has performed in practically the entire Galician and national geography, playing in festivals such as the International Festival of Lugo, Primavera Jazz Festival of Santiago, Festival More Than Jazz Coruña, Burgojazz Festival, NavalJazz Navalmoral Festival, etc.
