Xoel López is one of the most representative artists of the independent scene in Spain. Although he has wandered between the sounds of indie pop-rock and 60s folk, he considers himself a free artist. And he so proves.Xoel left behind an established career in his country of origin under the pseudonym of “Deluxe” to go across the ocean to start a new phase in his career. What was supposed to be a two month break, became an unexpected initiatory journey of more than two years where he traveled around countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico and the United States. With music as a common language and meeting point, Xoel explored different styles and sounds, a journey that enriched his personal and musical background. This change of direction is a real exercise of creative freedom that culminates in a big Latin American project, the " Caravana Americana ", done with the collaboration of musicians from all the countries he visited. Undoubtedly, this experience has left a deep trace in his latest work called "Atlántico" (Esmerarte, 2012), named after the ocean that unites us and yet separates us from the American continent. In 2013 he was the biggest winner at the Gala de los V Premios de la Música Independiente. He won two of the three awards he was nominated for: singer-songwriter best album "Atlántico" and best national artist of 2012.A breath of fresh air in Spanish pop from the other side of the ocean.
