At four, Pontevedra native Gabriel Peso stepped onto the stage of Teatro Principal of Pontevedra as a pianist; his fate was sealed. He would later study Classical Piano Studies and, in 2011, he graduates, and specializes, with honors in jazz at the Conservatorio Superior de Música of A Coruña.Since then, Peso has proven not only to be an excellent jazz pianist, but also a coveted jack-of-all-trades musician: television, theater, rock, pop ... In 2012, he receives the first prize for musical excellence Mans Futuro 2012, awarded by the Xunta de Galicia and Fundación Paideia and, a year later, he recorded his first record as trio leader: "Sinapsis" (2013)."Sinapsis" reflects its eclecticism: compositions with a scent of standard, blues, complex rhythms, close to progressive rock, he even includes a “muñeira”. In this album, melodies and lyricism predominate, as well as a fusion of European jazz with roots of Galician music.Gabriel Peso brings together many pianists on the same keyboard, but the trio is currently composed of David Ruiz on double bass and Miguel Asensio on drums, with whom he has just recorded his second album, "Travesía" (Xingra, 2018), a musical journey for the five years of transition between this album and the previous one.
