Ocean Gates was formed in Ferrol (Galicia) in March 2018. The origin of the band dates back to December of the previous year when Moya (drums) and Santi (bass), now members of Inerth, were on tour with their old band, Looking For An Answer, and decided to go ahead with the idea of forming a rock band with Nuria (ex-Deadmask, ex-Electric Cats) on vocals. Soon both Mito (Holywater, Window Pane) and Rubén (ex-Ursus) joined in the guitars, with the first rehearsals taking place in March. The main idea of the project being to make a sincere tribute to both the classic and dark hard-rock, psychedelic and progressive bands of the seventies, as well as the old doom-rock, punk and heavy metal.Taking the esoteric landscapes and urban realities of their surroundings as conceptual influences, they recorded their first self-titled album with Paco Liaño during 2019 at Treboada Studios (A Coruña), mixing and mastering Javier Ustara at the Mpire Studio (Madrid). The Atlantic coast, land of storms, shipwrecks and old cults, is the perfect setting for his music. The cracks in the wall of a dying industrial city... dead-end jobs, abandoned houses and continued population loss... collective depression and illegal businesses.Ocean Gates' self-titled album is released through Boomland Records on October 5, 2020.
