Manuela Kant

Manuela Kant, a mysterious Prussian photographer who emigrated to Barcelona during World War II.

She gives her name to the Galician-Barcelonian band that, after the success achieved with Capítol Pilot, Èxit del Sona 9 2014 award winner, reaffirms its identity with a second album. Contrasts that ride between folklore and rock, American music and electronic music and that tell stories, in Catalan, Galician and Spanish, of love and war.

Barcelona, October 2015. Manuela Kant's story is like that of so many people whom war forced to escape. During World War II she was forced to flee when Russian troops invaded Prussia and, in exile, she ended up in Barcelona. She was a photographer, and one of her snapshots came by chance into the hands of this Galician-Barcelonian band, who decided to take the name of this pseudo-historical character and make it their own. Fictitious or real characters delve into philosophical themes and further ratify their particular universe full of cultural reminiscences.

Following the thread of Vicky Longa and Aina Godoy through letters written in three languages, they constructed a world based on their own names, real or imaginary. The protagonists were 17th century Christina of Sweden, the romantic painter William Turner or the runner Kilian Jornet, Manuela Kant, the group's main muse, a lonely lorry driver on dusty roads, Rosana and her escape to another country or a murderer camouflaged in Sevillian folklore.
