ASTROBOYZCANADIAN DUCK TAPES, A CoruñaThis sound engineer from Galicia who moved to Baltimore a year ago has been soaking up more than just the usual residual musical influences you might expect from one of North America’s most prominent cultural epicentres. A multi-instrumentalist with a penchant for soundtracks, Astroboyz studied Film Score at ESMUC, Barcelona’s University of Music (Spain), and his tropical bass workouts are awash with subtle orchestration and arranging skills – as if they came right from the silver screen. Originally a punk rocker, Alexandre started his Astroboyz alter ego back in 2007 and peppered the internet with releases on labels like Melodram and House Café Music (2012) before linking with Struments Records for his first 12" Pianobatacazoo (2012). His last effort EXSAMPLES (Cassette 2016), wich is his full lenght debut was released in a Limited Edition Cassette kicking off Canadian Duck Tapes (Alex's label created in Baltimore) catalog; If you ever daydreamed what might come after Ballard’s Crash in an apocalyptic future where robot battles robot, then rest assured – the crate-diggers of tomorrow will be claiming Astroboyz foresaw it all.
