Helena Egea

Helena Egea is a project where the strength and passion of the voice are the protagonists. A journey into the past that evokes the strength of women like Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone or Janis Joplin.

The project was born as a soloist and is now consolidated in band format. As a violinist and singer, after my experience in different bands and genres, the need to have my own voice was born.

My first compositions were born from anger, frustration and passion with references to jazz, soul, blues, folk and rock. The repertoire is made up of songs mainly in English and Galician, with lyrics that speak of social reflections, personal experiences and stories evoked with images, as a way of catharsis and self-discovery. Within the project, the element of the violin is added, which I incorporate into this mixture of styles as a second voice and part of the project's identity.

Until recently, I only brought my music to the public through live performances and, but I am currently working on the production of my first EP and the release of its first single, 'Glass'.

Helena Egea was part of the first edition of the cultural accelerator programme for music projects Sonemerxente, developed by the Xunta de Galicia and the Paideia Galiza Foundation under the NextGenerationEU funds and the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism of Regulation (EU) 2021/241.
