A Banda da Balbina

Back in May 2008 the song “Estomballada” was born, and with it the band A Banda da Balbina. This song receive wide coverage on the radio, the Galician TV (TVG) and other TV stations, and it was also part of the repertoire of some local Galician bands.

A year later Balbina composed “O Fillo do Mar”, for which they received their first award from Radio Galega, from the show Apologhit. This award was a big boost for the band and they started touring in festivities and concerts all around Galicia, sharing the stage with Mercedes Peon, Festicultores, O Cuchufello, among others; and always bringing good music in the Galician language and much celebration.

Their creations continue with the rhythms and the typical local Galician sarcasm, because if there is something that defines Balbina’s components is that they sing and tell stories that are ours and common to the four provinces of Galicia.

From the beginning they have relied on a style that combines melody with rhythm and the musicality of the Galician language. At the moment they have an album in the market named after their first song, "Estomballada", and there is another album in the works.
