Lobalú

Najla Shami and Héctor Lorenzo present their new project LOBALÚ with the publishing of their first work "Haikus".

We presented "Haikus", the premiere of LOBALÚ with the record label Inquedanzas Sonoras, in May 2011. A work done with great care, recorded in Abriguiero Estudios (Friol) by Arturo Vaquero and Jahel Piñeiro and in which Náder Shami and Laila Shami participated in the design, photography and styling. In "Haikus", Najla and Héctor surround themselves by great musicians and friends, such as Guillerme Fernández (Berrogüetto and Espido) and Quim Farinha (Berrogüetto and Talabarde) on the guitars, violin and viola; Sérgio Tannus, Brazilian multi-instrumentalist on the cavaquinho, mandolin and guitar; Alvaro Vieito and Michel González, two guitarists that delve into jazz, the latter based in Miami, participated also in the arrangements of the album; Pedro Pascual (Marful and Talabarde) whose accordion, accordina and percussion are imbued in his sensibility; Alfonso Calvo on the bass; Ángel Sanluis Tejado and Roi Adrio on the perscussion; and Miguel Queixas (Nova Galega de Danza and Banda Crebinsky) on the drums.

The project comes about because of the the creative confluence that arises between Héctor Lorenzo and Najla Shami, a duet with an extensive background that has been working together for at least ten years. The compositions, of great richness, wander through Brazilian music, jazz and Galician music with a very personal and colorful sound.
