Galician guitarist Samuel Diz is an interpreter and researcher specialized in the music of the generation of '27 and the Spanish republican exile. He received the Critics' Award for his debut at the Palau de la Música Catalana and is the author of the first album recorded on Federico García Lorca's original guitar. His latest album, "Memoria de la Melancolía" (Poliédrica 2020), pays tribute to the feminist writer and activist María Teresa León, based on her autobiography and original contemporary music, mostly unpublished, which Diz found in various research residencies in Madrid, Rome, Paris, Mexico City or Havana.Parallel to his international career in the United States, Mexico, Zimbabwe, France or Ireland, Samuel Diz still maintains his commitment to Galicia with the recovery of unpublished music by Jesús Bal y Gay or Juan José Mantecón, commissioned by current creators such as Fernando Buide del Real, the release of the album "Guitarra Clásica Galega" (Ouvirmos 2012), or in the artistic direction of the Music in the Cloister Festival [14th edition to be held at the Cathedral of Tui from August 1 to 7, 2020].
