“Viajes de Ida” (Esmerarte, 2014) is Villanueva’s album debut, a challenge to create music to fill the gaps in day-to-day lives, without complications. Villanueva presents us with his essence after several months of frenetic activity reconstructing the itinerary of each of his musical journeys with great care, hand in hand with the producer Ángel Luján. A fresh work that has the necessary textures to ensure that it will become one of those discs you cannot help getting hooked on over time, one of those discs that gain something with every listening. After a two-year tour, Villanueva said goodbye with four consecutive sold-outs in different Spanish cities to start recording his new album “Zoo para Dos” (Sony Music, 2017) right away. This one, contrary to the previous album, deepen into the most pleasant and hedonistic spots of the human being such as wine, sex, art, optimism, physical and mental relaxation... keys all of them to reach the lack of physical and intellectual pain, maybe a complementary, not contradictory, middle point between the Cyrenaics and Epicurean schools. The title of the album comes from certain obsessions that Villanueva conveys through different metaphoric references with various animals, kind of like a private relief with whoever fancies listening or reading his lyrics with the same ease of whomever that drinks a cup of tea and shares a moment alone with the Galician artist.
