Mordem

The word "mordem" is taken from a poem by Rosalía de Castro, and it served Elba Fernández to baptize her new project. Elba Fernández was first known in 2010 under the name of Jane Joyd and with her first demo won the Proyecto Demo 2011 of Radio 3 and the Festival Internacional de Benicássim.

In 2012 she released her first EP, "Shy Little Jane Presents: The Dramatic Tale Of Her Animals", followed by a second one a year later, "Shy Little Jane Presents: So Lost In This Bleak Winter Landscape", both edited by Origami Records.

Those who know that stage will find, in this new alter ego of Elba, the same ability to create environments and states, but strings don’t predominate in Mordem, and the folk of her previous incarnation gave way to more varied sounds, sometimes close to trip-hop, others to the new R&B, ambient, pop, dreampop ... all crossed by contemporary pianos that build, along with voice and choirs, a new style, more Nordic and less American.

Mordem's first album was released on September 29, 2017, "Fragments to Dominate the Silence" (The Winter Hunters), recorded and mixed at Reno Studios by Luca Petricca and mastered by Fred Kevorkian (NY). The album counts on the collaboration of great musicians like Xavi Font on the piano, David Unison on the drums and production, and Manuel Cabezalí on the guitar.
