Fernando Abreu is a Galician clarinetist with extensive experience as a performer in classical, folk, contemporary or jazz music. He is member of Cuarteto Caramuxo, DOUS and Banda Crebinsky, with whom he has been awarded four Martín Codax Music Awards, a María Casares Award and the Premios Opinión a la Música de Raíz, among others.He has collaborated in more than 25 albums by Galician artists, among which it is worth mentioning all of composer Mercedes Peón’s records, with whom he has collaborated for more than 20 years.As a composer, he has written music for shows by both, amateur theater companies (Vichelocrego) and professional (Talía Teatro and Teatro do Adro), as well as for audiovisual works (Gus Abreu, Pablo Casal, etc.).He complements his performing career with teaching and researching. Advanced degree in Clarinet from the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, specialized in the interpretation of Historical Clarinets by the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague (Holland) and in Traditional Galician Music by the University of Santiago de Compostela. In addition, he obtained the Diploma of Advanced Studies in Ethnomusicology from the University of Valladolid.
