Nico Casal

Nico Casal is a classical trained pianist and film composer born in Galicia (Spain). He is now back, based in Madrid, following six years living in London where he moved in 2011 to study a Master in Film Music at City University. While living in London Nico composed music for many prominent films including the 2016 Oscar Winner short film “Stutterer”. He has composed the soundtracks for films such as “Te estoy amando locamente”, “La enfermedad del domingo” (nominated for the Feroz Awards for both works), the Argentine film “Errante Corazón”, and “María y los demás” (which earned him a Mestre Mateo Award for Best Soundtrack). He also composed music for documentaries like “Pacto de Silencio” for RTVE and series like “Maricón Perdido” and “Yo, Adicto” for Disney.

In April 2019, Nico released his first album, “Alone”. The album was released under the PIAS/Point of Departure Records label, accompanied by a tour in Spain and the United Kingdom, including a performance at the prestigious Southbank Centre in London. He also participated in festivals such as Eurosonic (Netherlands), Reeperbahn Festival (Germany), BIME in Bilbao, and the San Sebastián Jazz Festival. In 2024, he is releasing his EP "Tourís".

His music can also be heard in advertising campaigns such as recent ones for Wimbledon, the DGT, Amazon, Citroën, La Liga, Estrella Galicia, British Airways, Adidas, and more. In 2016, he received a nomination for the Music & Sound Awards UK for his music in HSBC bank’s international campaign "The Pink Ladies".
