Ukestra do Medio

Ukestra do Medio is an ukulele group born in Compostela in 2013, covering songs of different musical styles. In 2017 they released "em princípio..." and, in 2020, "Outras lérias", an album with their own songs for the first time, all of them in Galician. In 2022, Ukestra released "Histórias cativas" and strengthened their commitment to the group's compositions.

The work, recorded at Potemkin Studios and released by Ukelixo, keeps two of the band's hallmarks: the characteristic ukuleles and an eclectic approach with influences of rock 'n' roll, country, swing, pop and surf. In addition to the voices, the cajón and the different types of ukuleles (sopranos, tenors and baritones; ukebajos and banjoleles), in "Histórias cativas" Ukestra incorporates the tambourine, the washboard, the güiro, the xylophone... a compendium of small instruments through which they mark the rhythm of small stories about love, dashed expectations or times gone by. Serious lyrics, at times, that contrast with the freshness of the sound of the ukuleles.

The band is also part of 'Extravíos', a project shared with the company VACAburra in which they play live music for a dance piece by Andrea Quintana.
