La Agrupación Folclórica O Pedrón was founded in 1991 with the objective of collecting, studying, teaching and disseminating Galician folk culture. Most of the small groups of the region came out of this association. As of December 2013, the association had 37 students in their different sections: band, dance, cantareiras and pandereteiras. They offer all kinds of lessons for children and adults, regardsless of their age. All the instruments they use are traditional musical instruments: bagpipes, tamboril, bass drum and tambourine. They always collaborate with the cultural life of Padrón and therefore they have performed in events such as: Jacobean Route on its arrival at Ponte (Padrón), San Xoán do Raio, Pepper Festival, Santiaguiño, Traslatio, Santa Cecilia, Easter processions, events with the Irmandade de Amigos e Fillos de Padron, Ruta Quetzzal, parades, events in the convent Herbon for the reception of the general of the Franciscans in Rome, etc. Outside our town, they have performed in Laxe, Marín, Pobra do Caraminal, Santiago, Calo, Leiro, Pontecesures, A Estrada, Dodro, Dena, Pontevea, Lalin, Bertamiráns, Pontevedra, Madrid, Portugal and Bilbao. They were awarded the first prize of the traditional music festival Interritmos held in Padrón in July 2013, for which we recorded a promo CD with other 21 groups from all over Spain and of which 22,000 copies have been published.
